Our Mission

The Missionaries of the Real Presence are contemplative–missionaries for the apostolic renewal of the Church. We do this firstly by prayerfully seeking union with Jesus in all things, discipling other Catholics to be missionaries and seeking out the most hopeless and spiritually neglected in poor urban areas to share the good news of Jesus Christ with them.

Our house is an intentional community for Catholic men who desire to be formed as disciples for the apostolic renewal of the church. Men may be students, working a job or consecrated missionaries. Each member of the house will commit to a life of daily prayer, weekly evangelization, weekly formation and community night.

Direct Evangelization & Catechesis

Help us work for the salvation of souls among the spiritually neglected by way of direct evangelization in the public forum through intentional conversation, preaching, teaching, and prayer. The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few. We need help providing catechetical instruction, direct evangelization, accompanying those on the periphery as they discern entrance into the Catholic Church.

Join us this Friday for our neighborhood way of the cross! We will begin at 12th and Wisconsin in front of Gesu Parish at 2pm.

Tonight is not our monthly associates dinner. Going forward it will be on the 4th Monday of the month. Join us Monday January 27th for our next associates dinner. It will begin at 5:30 pm with evening prayer at our new house at 2126 w Michigan st. Milwaukee, WI 53233.

"Your sins are forgiven" Mark 2:9. Join us this Friday at 2pm for our weekly Way of the Cross throught the streets of Milwaukee. We will begin in front of Gesu Catholic Church on 12th and Wisconsin.

Join us this Saturday the 18th for our monthly lunch in the park. We will be serving starting at noon. We will need help before and after with set up and take down as well as having conversations with the homeless people that congregate near cream city gardens. If you can come please message us for more information.

Join us this Friday for the way of the cross. This will be the last time for a couple weeks. We will begin at 2pm in front of the Church of the Gesu at 12th and Wisconsin. If it is raining, we will go on the city bus with the cross. This week we are inviting people to reflect on, "He saw and believed"

Merry Christmas from the Missionaries of the Real Presence!

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings glad tidings, announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation, and saying to Zion, “Your God is King!” - Isaiah 52:7

It is Jesus who we announce! Jesus comes and fulfills this passage. This verse from the Christmas Mass during the day this morning is a reminder that our missionary work is the Lord's mission. As a missionary, reading this verse, we may think it is about us, but the news we share is not ours, but that of Jesus Christ, our savior who is born today. We are reminded today that God loves us so much that he would take on human flesh to save us from our sins.
Our second reading points to the fact that God has often spoke to people in partial and various ways, but now in Christ, he has spoken in a complete way. The good news that we don't need to keep trying to make our own way, but God made a way through Jesus Christ. In Him, the fullness of deity dwells bodily. In him all God has revealed for our salvation is complete. When we follow Christ, we follow He whom grace and truth come through. The reason the world does not care about Christ coming is because it does not believe that anything can be done about the problem of sin or it believes that nothing needs to be done with sin. We fall into either despair or presumption without Christ. When one has the hope that is given by Christ in his life, we can see that Christ is the answer to the sins that plague our world. He is the longed for messiah who would come to save us from sin and death and restore us back to life with God.
Today, the day before God takes flesh in the person of Jesus Christ we hear of a sermon by St Augustine in the Liturgy of the Hours. In his sermon, he begins with the bad news that we need to hear if we are going to rejoice in the good news of the coming of a savior.
"Awake, mankind! For your sake God has become man. Awake, you who sleep, rise up from the dead, and Christ will enlighten you. I tell you again: for your sake, God became man.
You would have suffered eternal death, had he not been born in time. Never would you have been freed from sinful flesh, had he not taken on himself the likeness of sinful flesh. You would have suffered everlasting unhappiness, had it not been for this mercy. You would never have returned to life, had he not shared your death. You would have been lost if he had not hastened to your aid. You would have perished, had he not come.
Let us then joyfully celebrate the coming of our salvation and redemption. Let us celebrate the festive day on which he who is the great and eternal day came from the great and endless day of eternity into our own short day of time."

Join us tonight for our next Missionary Associates Dinner. This is for people who volunteer with the missionaries or are interested in volunteering/supporting our work. We hope that this continues building up the community around the missionaries, getting to know others and energizing more people to start working for the salvation of souls here in Milwaukee. This occurs at the Street Disciple House located at 2126 W Michigan St. Milwaukee, WI 53233. The schedule for the event is as follows:

● Evening Prayer 5:30 pm - 5:45 pm
● Short talk from former missionary, Steven Kehoe with discussion 5:50 pm - 6:10 pm
● Dinner and socializing 6:15 pm onward

*Associate dinners in future months will now typically be on the 4th Monday of the month starting on January 27th, 2025

Join us this Friday for the Way of the Cross. We will begin in front of Gesu at 12th and Wisconsin at 2pm. This week we will ask people what sign they are looking for "Ask for a sign from the Lord" Isaiah 7:10

We will be serving food at the Cream City Garden homeless camp (1307 N 13th st) this Saturday December 21st from 12pm to 1pm. Our friend Joel purchased a hot dog cart and would like to start serving a monthly meal for the poor in Milwaukee. We will work along side him and we need volunteers to help set up and take down tables and chairs. Volunteers are encouraged to have a meal with those we are serving and share in conversations about life and faith.

We are Christmas caroling leading up to Christmas. Come and joining us for caroling Tuesday December 17th at 6pm outside of the main entrance of the 3rd Street Market Hall. We will also have flyers for inviting people to Gesu Parish's Christmas Masses. Additionally we we be caroling at the sentry foods at 7101 W Lisbon Ave on Monday December 23rd with flyers for Mother of Good Counsel Parish and after the 4pm Gesu Christmas Eve Mass leaving from the narthex.

This Saturday at the inheritance conference 73 people wrote something on the cross that they feel God may be calling them to but are afraid to take the next step. Pray for them that they may follow through with what God is calling them to. Is there something you feel God is calling you to but afraid to begin. Join us this Friday for the way of the Cross at 2pm. We will begin at the corner of 12th and State st. Photo from All Saints Day evangelization last Friday. We had a number of Catholics stop by and want to help share the Gospel.

We are thankful to everyone who helped moving to our new house this weekend. It was a great day and we are excited to be in the new location. We invite you to come and see the new street disciple house. Send us a message if you would like to come for a visit.

Join us this Friday. Instead of the usual neighborhood way of the cross, we will be stationary outside of Gesu Catholic Church at 1145 W Wisconsin Ave. reminding people it is a Holy day of Obligation (All Saints Day) and encouraging Catholics to come back to the practice of the faith. I'm planning on going out there from around 10am till the 12:05 pm Mass and again from around 3pm till 5pm before the 5:30pm Mass I'll be going to 5:30pm Mass so will stop a little early. It would be great to have you join for this time of evangelization on All Saints Day. If anyone wants to meet this week beforehand and go over some ways of evangelizing I'll be available to meet. Join us tonight for our last Missionary Associates dinner at St Anthony's Parish (1711 S 9th St.) before our move. We will have Evening Prayer in the church at 5:30 pm. Following that we will have a talk on engaging secular minded individuals with the Gospel and then dinner and discussion.

We will be moving to a house in the Marquette University Campus neighborhood on November 2. We will begin moving at 9am from 1711 s 9th st. Milwaukee, WI and to have an afternoon Mass for All Souls day after we get all moved in.

This change came about after for the past 3.5 years, I have met many men who desire to be missionaries, but need much formation before they are ready. I have been feeling like God is calling me to walk more closely with these men and help disciple them to be able to commit themselves more to the mission of the Church. The house by Marquette will be a discipleship house where I will allow men to live with me to begin discerning this call. They will commit to a basic life of prayer, weekly formation and weekly street evangelization. The men living in the house could be students at nearby universities or young adults working, or fully dedicated missionaries. The house itself has 12 rooms for future disciples. Men interested in the house should desire to share the gospel, but may be at different stages in the spiritual life. Please keep this transition in your prayers.

The performance of our ministry

Let us listen to what the Lord says as he sends the preachers forth: The harvest is great but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest. We can speak only with a heavy heart of so few laborers for such a great harvest, for although there are many to hear the good news there are only a few to preach it. Look about you and see how full the world is of priests, yet in God’s harvest a laborer is rarely to be found; for although we have accepted the priestly office, we do not fulfill its demands.

Beloved brothers, consider what has been said: Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest. Pray for us so that we may have the strength to work on your behalf; that our tongue may not grow weary of exhortation, and that after we have accepted the office of preaching, our silence may not condemn us before the just judge. For frequently the preacher’s tongue is bound fast on account of his own wickedness; while on the other hand it sometimes happens that because of the people’s sins, the word of preaching is withdrawn from those who preside over the assembly. With reference to the former situation, the psalmist says: But God asks the sinner: Why do you recite my commandments? And with reference to the latter, the Lord tells Ezekiel: I will make your tongue cleave to the roof of your mouth, so that you shall be dumb and unable to reprove them, for they are a rebellious house. He clearly means this: the word of preaching will be taken away from you because as long as this people irritates me by their deeds, they are unworthy to hear the exhortation of truth. It is not easy to know for whose sinfulness the preacher’s word is withheld, but it is indisputable that the shepherd’s silence while often injurious to himself will always harm his flock.
