About US

Who Are We?

The Missionaries of the Real Presence are a Catholic, non-profit association that is currently in the process of obtaining canonical recognition. Our Street Disciple House is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and serves as a place for discernment, formation, and mission. Our purpose is to offer a conducive environment where men can pray and live in community, grow, and receive comprehensive formation as disciples of Christ.

Prayer, discernment, community life, spiritual formation, and evangelization are the central focus of our journey, fostering a profound experience of discipleship and Christian witness.

OUR GOAL

Our main goal is to promote the apostolic renewal of the Church through community life, prayer, ongoing formation in the faith, vocational discernment, and evangelization, remembering the words of Jesus: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20).

Direct Evangelization

The work of the Missionaries of the Real Presence focuses on the salvation of souls, especially those who are spiritually distant from the faith. To respond to this need, direct evangelization is promoted in public spaces through open dialogue, preaching the Gospel, teaching Catholic doctrine, and prayer in community. This apostolate requires the collaboration of more people willing to join the mission, since, as the Gospel says, "the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few" (Luke 10:2).

Our Structure

Located in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, next to the Marquette University campus, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee has appointed the Very Rev. Ricardo Martin, archdiocesan Vice Chancelor, to oversee our functioning and constitution.

We are under the accompaniment and advising of various diocesan and religious priests: Fr. Rafael Rodriguez; Fr. Michael Maher, SJ; Fr. Reed Mongoven, SDS; Fr. Jerome Schroeder, OFM Cap.; in addition to others who walk with us as spiritual directors and confessors.

While not yet an order of canonical rite, the Missionaries of the Real Presence are under the supervision and spiritual guidance of the local ordinary (Bishop) or an individual designated by him. The Missionaries commit themselves to obedience and respect toward this appointed authority, ensuring our work aligns with the norms, mission, and principles of the local Catholic Church.

Our Milwaukee-House superior and founder is Griffin Rain. For further information and inquiries, please contact us at (414) 667-6777 or fill out the form at this link.

Mission Vocation

The context that inspires our mission is best described by Pope Francis in his message, "Pilgrims of Hope: The Gift of Life," on March 19, 2025, the Feast of St. Joseph. Some of the key aspects of his message include:

God Calls Each Person By Name

In our time, many young people feel lost about the future. They often experience uncertainty about job prospects and, more profoundly, an identity crisis, which is also a crisis of meaning and values.

These struggles are often worsened by the "confusion" of digital culture and the violence of war and injustice; yet God remains present, calling each person by name and inviting them to live with purpose.

Adult members of the Church, especially pastors, should accompany young people in discerning their vocation. We are called to welcome, discern, and accompany the vocational journey of new generations.

Youth must be co-protagonists with the Holy Spirit, who stirs in them the desire to make their lives a gift of love. Discerning one's vocation, however, is not an isolated process but takes place within the Christian community, through prayer, reflection, and service. We must encourage young people to seek silence and space for contemplation in order to listen to God's call.

The world pushes you to make hurried decisions and fills your days with noise. Have the courage to stop, to listen within, and to ask God what he dreams for you.

Vocations are about Love and Service

The lives of young saints like St. Rose of Lima, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Dominic Savio, and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, show how a vocation is not about self-affirmation, but about love and service to others.

Many young people are seeking to know the path that God is calling them to take. Some discover -- often with surprise -- a vocation to the priesthood or consecrated life; others discover the beauty of the call to marriage and family life or to public service and the witness of faith among colleagues and friends.

Vocations Must be Lived with Hope and Trust in God's Providence

Hope in God does not disappoint. The world needs young people who are pilgrims of hope, courageous in dedicating their lives to Christ, and joyful in being his missionary disciples.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for men who wish to deepen their relationship with the Lord, are discerning a vocation in life, and are willing to share their faith with others. We also invite those who feel called to contribute to the evangelizing mission and the strengthening of the Christian community.

Our houses are open to students, workers, and consecrated persons over 18 years of age, fostering an environment in which each member can grow in faith and their Christian commitment, and discern a vocation in life.
